According to the Mayo Clinic, it is still uncertain whether or not flaxseed reducing the risk of prostate cancer. The hospital states that the current data is limited.
In some studies, men who took flaxseed and followed a low-fat diet saw their prostate-specific antigen levels decline, the Mayo Clinic states. The hospital adds that some reductions could be due to the low-fat diet.
The Mayo Clinic states other studies have shown either no positive or negative effects of flaxseed on prostate health. Because of this, the Mayo Clinic said it is unclear at this time whether or not flaxseed can help treat prostate cancer.
