REDMOND, Ore. -

The Redmond School District, in cooperation with the Redmond Proficiency Academy Board of Directors, has sent Jon Bullock to head up the RPA as interim director in the wake of Michael Bremont's arrest, the district announced Wednesday night.

Here's the rest of their news release:

In a move designed to provide additional leadership and guidance during the current situation, RSD is offering all the support and involvement possible based upon resources available.

Bullock, who currently serves as the District's Director of Strategic Planning on a part-time basis, will join the management team at RPA on an interim basis. Bullock?s involvement will begin immediately and his salary is based upon a negotiated agreement between the RSD Board of Directors and RPA Board of Directors.

Bullock previously served as the Principal at Redmond High School and has an extensive background in proficiency-based learning. He is known as an effective problem-solver and has been essential in guiding the District's preparations for opening Ridgeview High School.

?Through his involvement in the Redmond School District, Jon has served our community in various capacities and is extremely qualified for this challenge,? stated RSD Superintendent Shay Mikalson. "Jon is a talented and experienced administrator able to connect well with students, staff, and parents. He is a consummate professional, possessing the skills necessary to manage a wide variety of tasks, particularly managing schools through difficult transitions."

Bullock will join a management team that includes Assistant Director Greg Scott, who has been overseeing much of the day-to-day operations of RPA this year.

"Greg is important to the success of RPA," Mikalson said. "His institutional knowledge of RPA and his pedagogical knowledge of proficiency-based education are critical."

RPA has established itself as an effective component of the many educational choices in Redmond. The success of RPA has been validated by its steady growth since its establishment in 2009.
