Has your fence accumulated dirt over the summer? You can easily clean your stained, wooden fence by following these tips.

Before you start, make sure you have the proper tools: water hose, wood stain in the appropriate color, wood cleaning solution and plastic sheets.

First, lay the plastic sheet under the fence to protect the grass.

Next, mix  a cleaning solution. You can either purchase a wood-cleaning solution or you can make your own by using one part bleach and two parts water.

When the solution is ready, apply it to the fence and let it soak in. When the fence appears to be a brighter color and seems to look cleaner, use a hose to rinse off the solution.

Let the fence dry. When it’s ready, apply a stain to the wood. You can either choose a color to stain the wood or you can simply apply a wood sealant.
