La PINE, Ore. -

In the past couple of weeks the LaPine Fire District’s paramedics have seen a significant increase in emergency calls for people slipping and falling – most due to slippery outside surfaces and poor footwear.

Injuries have been minor to serious broken bones, contusions and concussions.

The LaPine Fire District would like to remind all to take the following winter precautions:

  • Clear all sidewalks and steps of all snow and ice as soon as possible
  • Use ice melt
  • Wear good traction boots when outside
  • Consider boot chains or traction devises for ice
  • Use a walking stick or ski pole for balance
