BEND, Ore. -

The Bend Veteran Affairs Community Based Outpatient Clinic  will be temporarily closed from Nov. 19-26 for the move to their new, larger facility, located across the street, a big step toward expanded services for Central Oregon veterans, officials said Thursday

On Tuesday, Nov. 27, the Bend CBOC, which has been housed at 2115 NE Wyatt Court, will reopen in its newly expanded 25,000-square-foot facility at 2650 Northeast Courtney Drive in Bend with additional services to support 6,500-plus Central Oregon veterans the facility serves.

"With this move, we are excited to also offer expanded services to our Veterans in our eye clinic," said John Shea, VA operations manager at the Bend clinic. "We will also be offering physical therapy and continue with our primary care, home-based primary care, mental health services, and our dermatology and hand clinics."

In coming months, the Bend CBOC will be adding expanded specialty care services, to include audiology.

The new clinic is designed to increase the VA's ability to create tele-health services, which will include compensation and pension exams and more mental health care options, along with an improved weight reduction program.

"We will now have a clinical pharmacist on site and will begin building additional programs around this specialist," said Shea.

"We are extremely thrilled to get in our new facility - we think this expansion will really help provide our veterans the care they need right here, reduce the need to travel, and improve the health care experience of those we serve."

The Bend CBOC will soon announce a formal ribbon-cutting and open house event for the public to visit and tour the facility; it is tentatively scheduled for January.

Facility contact number for patients:  Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m., 541-647-5200
