A fire in a detached shop-garage in Culver caused about $40,000 in losses early Sunday, Jefferson County fire officials said.

CULVER, Ore. -

Fire heavily damaged a detached garage-shop in Culver early Sunday, authorities said.

A resident of the property called dispatchers shortly before midnight to report the fire at 4121 SW Smith Lane, said Capt. Kirk Hagman.

The first of nine firefighters on scene said flames were coming from the 20-by-30 foot structure, and crews did a quick knockdown of the blaze, Hagman said. The home on the property was about 50 feet away, he added.

No injuries were reported. Losses to the structure and contents were estimated at $40,000, he said, adding that crews were on scene for nearly three hours.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
