Eight Arizona jails are about to implement a money-saving plan that might not sit well with some inmates.

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who has been in the spotlight before for his controversial policies, including forcing inmates to wear pink underwear, announced a plan to transition all inmates in his county jails to a vegetarian diet, reports Fox 10.

While health might have something to do with the move, it's really meant to save the county money.

"There will be no more meat on the menu, we’ll save $100,000," Arpaio told Phoenix affiliate Fox 10.

Arpaio says one Maricopa County policy he famously instituted will remain in tact: Inmates will still have to pay for their meals.
