Throughout a person’s life he or she may be vaccinated against numerous diseases. Here is a list of some of the most common types of vaccines that are recommended by the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention:


DTap: Protects against diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis

TDap: Follows the DTap series to protect against tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis

Hib: Vaccination protects against Haemophilus Influenzaetype b

HepA: Protects against hepatitis A

HepB: Protects against hepatitis B

Flu: Vaccinates against influenza

MMR: Protects against measles, mumps and rubella

IPV: Vaccinates against polio

PCV: Protects against pneumococcus

MCV: Protects against Meningococcal disease, which can cause bacterial meningitis

RV: Protects against rotavirus

HPV: Protects against the Human Papillomavirus

Pneumococcal: Protects against pneumonia

Varicella: Vaccinates against Chickenpox

Zoster: Vaccinates against shingles
